The recent February KB4598291 update won't install. In fact all cumulative updates from November/20 on have not installed.Everything else WILL install but this.
I looked at all the updates within the update itself for February and saw nothing that my system would want anyways.
But more importantly, for those who have had the same issue, and I know there are many,I contacted Microsoft telephone support and had a very helpful lady on the other end.She took control of my computer and after going through several steps to correct it,none of which worked, she was just about to reinstall windows(her last resort) when she looked closer and realized that my system didn't need any of the updates and stopped herself from going further. She told me to hang in there and wait for an update in the future which should take care of this issue once and for all.
I went on and installed an app that hid this update. That worked until recently when Microsoft, who sometimes seems hell bent on peeing people off for the fun of it,over rode the app and the cumulative update is now not only visible as an optional update, but also tells me in red lettering I'm missing important updates and security fixes. You can't win for losing.
Btw my system is a 19042.630 build in a 20H2 version.
In conclusion, don't fret folks.Somehow someday will come when this mess Microsoft has made, and seems not in a big hurry to fix, will end.It is,however, a situation on their part and a resulting frustration on our part that shouldn't have come about in the first place.
