down graded my laptop from windows 8 to 7. Can I go back.

My gateway laptop came with windows 8 installed. I didn't like the way it operated so i purchased windows 7 premium and installed that. Now that windows 7 is no longer supported my question is: Is there still a copy of windows 8 on my laptop and can I retrieve and use it?
