Let me be very clear.
After upgrading from 1903 to 20H2 (Windows 10), the first screen is the log in screen where you type in your PIN. Because there were security changes due to the upgrade, the PIN needed to be reset.
The message appears: "Your PIN is no longer available due to a change in the security settings on this device. Restart your device to see if that fixes the problem." Rebooting did not. I've rebooted into Safe Mode with Command Prompt and am met with the same message.
I've rebooted and selected F10 for more options and that just brings me back to the typical log on screen.
I have a link to "Set up my PIN". But when I use that, the verification wants to send a text message to my land line...my daughter set up the machine and even at 18 she didn't know Microsoft only sends text messages and refuses to call anymore - just like I cannot call for support anymore.
I've tried (many, many times) to reset the PIN, but MS has placed a "Hold" on the machine until sometime in March...around the 10th I think.
I've logged in to the account on my main pc, but I cannot change anything. Every time I attempt to change something in the account (phone number; edit; etc.) I get this:
This site requires a security code to sign in. When your security info updates on 3/10/2021 you will be able to access this site. You can still access sites such as Outlook and Skype that don't require a security code.
On 2/8/2021 you requested that your security info be replaced.
That's because the very first time I was met on the pc log on to reset the PIN, because the phone number was a land line and not a mobile, the account was put on hold. No matter what I've tried, I can't get into the machine.
This is NOT right! I'm not allowed to get tech support. I'm not allowed to change the information in an account for which I not only have the PIN but the password.
All of this is because...the phone number is a land line. Really?!
If someone from Microsoft, or representing MS can come up with a resolve, great. I'm all ears.
If that's not bad enough, the "Submit" button below was just disabled!!!
