Hello,

I have been having trouble installing 2021-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4601319).

When I attempt to install and /or retry I get the following error:

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x8000ffff)

I have tried the following fixes:

- Run Windows 10 troubleshooter on Windows update which finds pending restart, I restart Windows, I run Windows update which finds Cumulative update (KB4601319), attempts to install and fails with error: (0x8000ffff)

- Run Services.msc and restart windows update which seems to do nothing

- Run a clean boot via MSCONFIG, restart, I run Windows update which finds Cumulative update (KB4601319), attempts to install and fails with error: (0x8000ffff)

- I have deleted the pending update stored in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download by stopping then re-starting the Windows update services which forces Windows to redownload and attempts to install Cumulative update and fails with error: (0x8000ffff)

- Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth which fails at 60% due to detected pending restart

- Run sfc /scannow which fails immediately due to detected pending restart

- Manually downloaded and attempted to install the Cumulative update (KB4601319) which fails with error: (0x8000ffff)

- I checked to see that all my Windows 10 Home and 3rd party drivers were up to date

- I changed my DNS address to one of the suggested ones

- I disabled/ uninstalled my antivirus and tried everything again with the same results.

I have no idea how to get rid of this pending system restart issue and my PC is no longer updating.

I am open to any other suggestions and any help would be greatly appreciated.

My PC: Windows 10 Home x64, AMD Ryzen 3800X, RTX 2080 TI, 16 GB DDR4 3600 ram, 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO M.2
