Host a website on a Domain LAN

Hey guys how do you host a website on a Domain LAN with win03 server.

You need to install Internet Information Services with Manage Your
Server.

Anyone that cares about their LAN doesn't host a website in it - they
put the website in the DMZ network outside the LAN.

If you have to ask the question then you really need to read up on
Website and Web Server security before you compromise your network.

Well its just a simple website that contains some list of websites that our
users used everyday, and it will not be used for public, its just for our
users in a LAN.

Well before i created a simple website and use my XP as a server by
installing IIS and setting my browser to use the loopback address to get to
the website and this one work. Is the setup the same if you do it in a LAN.
Just replace the loopback address with the ip address of the node that acts
as the server.

If you are sure that they will not be exposed outside the network, then
you might be safe.

Do you already have a Sharepoint internal website setup for sharing
information? If not, you might want to consider it as it will work like
a small BBS for your users.

You would install IIS on the server, same as in XP, then you would setup
a DNS record so that you could NAME it (in your servers DNS settings,
then you add a host-header name to the site you create on the server IIS
using that same name, this is so that you can use the same IP/Port 80
without messing with any other site on that server. Now, when users
browse to somesite.mycompany.com (or somesite.mycompany.lan) they get
your site.

Just make sure that you don't have HTTP/TCP Port 80 forwarded inbound to
the server.
