cut to say.....your bank. I had all these in XP and but now I have a new PC
with Vista it does not seem to allow icons from website to appear in desktop
short cut.

What do you mean by "desktop shortcut"?

You can create shortcuts on your desktop to websites.
in IE7, right-click on the webpage, select Create Shortcut
--or--
right-click on desktop, select New - Shortcut
enter the URL

Or do you mean in the Start Menu?
create the shortcut (above) and drag to the Start orb.

Or the Quick Launch bar?
drag the shortcut to the Quick Launch bar.

I have done this for a few Sites that I really wanted by going into the
Temporary Internet Files folder (C:/Users/your name/App
Data/Local/Microsoft/Windows/) and find the Favicon.ico for the site you
want. copy it to another place that you can reference it when you select
Properties (for the Shortcut on the desktop) and change icon.
