Whenever I try to use my laptop as a second monitor through the wireless function for my PC, my PC loses wifi.

Just as described above, I'm trying to use my laptop as a second monitor for my PC. I try to project it as extend, but everytime I've tried, my PC will suddenly lose connection and my laptop will disconnect itself. What is happening? Can I just connect the two with an hdmi cable? Or will that start breaking things?
