Alt codes for ANSI / Unicode not working

C

Cornan The Iowan

I have been using the numeric pad to enter ANSI or Unicode characters for years in Windows 7.

  • The ALT code entry method doesn't work on any Windows 10 system that I have used.
  • I know to keep Num Lock "ON".
  • On the advice of Microsoft and other website I added Registry entry EnableHexPad and set it to 1.
  • Other articles mentioned "Mouse Keys" settings, which have changed and no longer correspond to the articles.

What do I need to do to restore ALT key operation for Windows 10?

This was a very important input method for me, both for what Microsoft calls "ANSI" (Windows-1252), e.g. ALT+233 or for expressed as Unicode characters, e.g. ALT+0241.

If this feature has been disabled intentionally, please restore it.

If it is a settings issue, please advise as to the required settings now in effect.
