Hello,
I have encountered a strange bug in my Windows installation after the most recent update (KB5001649). This is what I know:
I would be very thankful for any help but there is a restriction for me: I am currently working on my final thesis and I've built up quite a complicated setup that I really, really don't want to rebuild right now as I am very close to my deadline. Anything including resetting my machine to a point where I have to manually reinstall applications and programs would be very much a last resort for me...
Thanks in advance,
Viktor

I have encountered a strange bug in my Windows installation after the most recent update (KB5001649). This is what I know:
- after restarting, everything seems to work normal for a minute or so
- then the bug kicks in and I have problems like:
- time-delayed hover effects (I move my mouse onto a button and the button highlight kicks in after half a second or so)
- dragging windows has a similarily time-delayed problem, where the window will "follow" the cursor after I move it
- using programs like VS Code and Firefox will slow down the machine up to a point where I cannot do anything at all, not even close the window
- at the same time, when I go back to the desktop, everything seems to have the normal speed, clicking on the "Start" button will bring up the menu at normal speed
- these bugs will not show up in save mode
- I have already deinstalled the most recent updates (I cannot see their names now, as I am working in save mode but can name them if needs be)
- My specs are:
- Windows 10 Education
- Version: 2004
- Build 19041.1
- 64-bit, x64-based processor
