Hello. I'm seeking help in two distinct topics. I would greatly appreciate any advice.
1. For the past years I have stored all my phone and DLSR camera pictures in an Samsung external hard drive. Lately I have noticed that some of these pictures have been "fragmented". Strange thing is, it seems to occur when Windows Explorer is loading and showing the pictures thumbnails. I want to know why this is happening, and if there is a (free) way to recover those pictures.
2. Ok, this seem to be a bit more complicated. On that same external hard drive, I have a folder (named "RAW") containing a certain amount of .cr2 files, exclusively. I noticed that that folder contained less pictures than I remember, so I thought that some of those pictures vanished or I have deleted them. Then I tried to move from an SD card some more .cr2 files to that RAW folder, and when I tried to do that again, the message that says "there is already a file with the same name in this location" appeared. But when I searched for those files they weren't there, and I know they are not hidden.
So, I know that folder contain more pictures than it appear. Next thing I did was create a new folder, so I could transfer some of these pictures from that RAW folder to this new one. I managed to do that for a portion of those pictures and for my surprise more pictures that was invisible appeared! So I continued to move some pictures bit by bit to other folders and more and more pictures on the RAW folder continued to appear. But it came to a point that:
I - if I try to move some file from the RAW folder to another folder, all of the pictures of the RAW folder disappears.
II - if I try to delete some file from the RAW folder, every other file vanishes.
III - if i copy and paste some pictures within that folder, the same amount of pictures is seen in the folder (510 pictures). The copied and pasted pictures is there, but on the bottom of the folder some images vanishes. In another words, the folder limits the number of pictures.
Thank you very much.
