Hi.
I'm restoring an old Dell Latitude D620, which is Vista capable but came with XP. I used Rufus to image an ISO to a flash drive, from which I planned on installing Windows XP. I get to the screen that says Setup is inspecting your conputer's hardware configuration..., at which point the installer exits with a blank screen. There is no activity on either the USB or hard drive, and the only way I can get out is by pressing the power button to power off. All of the ports are USB 2.0 compliant, and changing them to 1.1 in the BIOS has no effect. A Google search said partitions that already exist on the hard drive might be the cause; I wiped the drive with DBAN and still nothing. The hard drive uses a SATA connection, but I tried it on an Inspiron from a similar time period, which is also SATA, and it seems to work fine... I can't press F6 to load drivers from a floppy, as the installer never gets to that stage.
