Hello.
I am trying to fix a client's very old Dell Optiplex 380 PC with its
Windows XP Pro. SP3 (IE8 & AU enabled). Basically, it won't install new USB drivers for connected hardwares like flash sticks and mouse.
Their old SanDisk Cruzer Glide 8 GB and SanDisk Cruzer Blade 4 GB USB flash drives still connect in all USB ports.
Unable to use own my 3 old smaller disk capability USB flash sticks (2 128 MB & 1 GB) including SanDisk Cruzer Mini in any USB ports (front and rear).
Original standard/plain Dell optical mouse failed to connect with other PC's USB ports. It only works with its original USB port. I assume other USB ports need to install the mouse driver.
USB flash sticks worked in a booted KNOPPIX v7.2 (Linux) disc. Not a hardware issue, but a Windows XP Pro SP3 issue.
Windows XP Pro SP3 is not able to install new drivers from never used ports for old and new USB devices. New devices do not connect even though connected.
Safe mode didn't make any differences.
Found New Hardware Wizard -- "Cannot Install this Hardware. The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."
Always can't safely remove hardware to stop devices.
Does anyone know to fix this issue? Thank you for reading and hopefully answering.
