I have been experiencing this problem for a few months now, and I have had enough.
Almost every time I shut down my laptop or restart it, upon powering it on again all of my desktop apps except for Microsoft teams, google chrome, steam and microsoft edge are removed from my desktop, as well as the backround that I previously had set.
I also get logged out of anything that requires a login such as Google and Steam for example.
However, on occasion when I log in everything is fine, which is odd as it isn't always consistent and sometimes I can go a few days without everything being reset.
The first time I encountered this problem was in the morning, where I had logged into my laptop to find that everything was removed from my desktop, the night prior I had used a HDMI cord to connect my laptop to an external monitor, and this was the first time I had done this so I'm not sure if this would have caused the issue to arrise.
I have been dealing with this problem by finding the apps that I previously had on my desktop and putting them back as well as changing my backround again, aswell as re-logging in to any applications I need to use for that session.
I am a student, and I am logged into teams through my school microsoft login, and I also have a school onedrive folder with my main desktop apps backed up on, and this is how I retrieve the apps to put back on my desktop.
If anyone has any idea as to why this problem is occuring, and how I could fix it, please let me know, thanks.
