Additional clicking required when switching applications and typing.

Hello,

First time, long time. I have noticed recently that something has changed in Windows 7 that now requires two mouse clicks to move to a different, already opened, application and be able to type. I know this may sound like a minor problem with a simple fix of "Just click twice then", but it never used to be this way. My organization frequently has to switch between Outlook, web browser, Word and other various software and copy and paste characters.

Now that this is happening, we are having issues where the first character they type when switching to the other application is missing or doesn't get the "Shift" notification and the character remains lower case.

Was there an update that could be causing this or a setting I've missed somewhere? I have checked the mouse settings in the control panel as well as the "Make the mouse easier to use" in the Ease of Access portion of Control Panel without positive results.

Any information on the cause/resolution of this issue would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for helping with this issue.
