Can't save documents and the green check marks

Problem # 1- I can't open or save new word documents. The pop up message says that I have a dialog box open and to try again later. Next, in order to close the box I have to select "save or don't save" and the standardized footnote is to try again later.Next, I check to see if I have any other word or excel documents open, I don't. The only document that is open, is the one I am currently working on. I tried again to use the "save as " function and replaced my current working document with a new name. I thought that might trigger anything that will allow me to save my new document. I wasn't successful. I am living in ground hog day and feel I must be overlooking something really simple? Can anyone describe where the dialog box actually is located and what it physically looks like? I have already read the description in the Microsoft Help desk. At least in my case, it was not helpful. Any suggestions?



Plus all my folders have a green ck mark. I assume the problem I am having must all be connected. Advice?
