Asus M4A88TD-Evo mb, AMD PH-II X6 10555T, 4Gb of DDR3 RAM
attempted to up date from Win 10 Pro 64 ver 1909.to 20H2. First install failed, second reached about 90% of install and the went into a continuous loop of restart.
the Asus mb comes with "Express Gate by Splash Top" . this appears to be a type of mini browser. during resart Express Gate opens 1st and if I click on it the restart stays there. the various apps, mail, Yahoo, etc attempt to open but can not get online. there is a power off button too.
Note: my router is new and I have multiple devices successfully connected but I did unplug ruoter and modem for 5 minuets etc.
Prior to attempting this update I did a fresh Image on a usb 3 HDD and a fresh repair disc on a CD-R using win 10 tools.
During restart it reaches a page with a window in the centre and then 2 messages come up. First: "Attempting to recover installation". Then:: "Undoing changes made to your computer. I left it for at least 8 hours before attempting turning it off and on a couple of times, no change. Next I tried turning it on with the Image HDD plugged in, with the repair CD-R installed and with both. I don,t remember if there was no change or a black screen but no result. Finally I tried going in to the BIOS and changing the boot order, making the HDD and then the CD-R first. the only change is in both cases it got to the "choose your key board lay out" page and froze.
I have a couple laptops both running win home 32 which have updated to 20h2. can I use one of them to create a rescue drive?
I hope I've provided the information needed. Thank you for any help.
