SECURITY ALERT message from Microsoft

Today upon trying to access my email the screen was different. Then a message appeared saying Microsoft locked the computer bc it was compromised ... something about accessing pornographic sight. Then a ladies voice came across and said not to shut down the computer and to call the Microsoft phone number appearing on the screen. I called the number and after a back-n-forth with the person on the other end, he said his business name was Geek Services. He said I had no protection and if I didn’t pay for security my computer would no longer be accessible. Can someone please enlighten me? I paid him $249.99 for 3 years of protection. I know I needed the security but don’t know how to tell if said service was provided. I am really unhappy that it came across as Microsoft and everything looked legitimate when, in fact, now I’m wondering WHY they can do business this way.
