I am officially stumped on this one.
Recent updates to Microsoft Defender Antivirus have been messing with my internet connection, and not only am I unsure as to HOW that is possible, I am also unable to either uninstall these recent updates or revert to a time where they were not installed (and subsequently prevent them from being installed) in order to correct the issue. The ONLY thing that has changed on my PC in the past 4 or 5 days has been these updates, which seem to be coming out in troves (one per day, almost, since the 18th?). When I try to uninstall these updates, my computer cannot register that the updates are even installed. I have tried using advanced options during a recovery restart, and command prompt. Both have failed. My ISP is fine, when doing a speed test all things are normal. As soon as I try to play certain online games (Path of Exile and Apex Legends, specifically), my internet connection FREAKS out. Completely inconsistent, ms jumps up to about 200, latency skyrockets, and framerates are in the hole as such. Unplayable. What confuses me, in addition to the listed problems above, is that the connection issues only occur when playing these two games.
The latest updates have all also been downloaded before their release times/dates, which is also quite confusing. Hard to believe my computer is downloading things in the future. For instance, the currently listed update is for version 1.335.1297.0 on Microsoft's website. My current update version is 1.335.1314.0, which is scheduled to drop today, in about 4 hours from the time I am posting this (0152, 4/21/21). Not sure if that is a possible culprit/how to fix that as well, considering I cannot uninstall it?
Thanks for any help. Cheers.
