Snipping Tool in Windows 10

I have been taking screen snips for the past week, viewing them, and then saving them in file explorer. I let the laptop (Acer Gaming Laptop) go to sleep and upon waking it, I thought I could resume with where I left off and use the snipping tool to take screenshots of my homework. Except, once capturing the screenshot, I click the notification that comes up stating it was copied to the clipboard, I click into it to save the image.
