Turn off the McAfee email scanning option.

McAfee causes a lot of probs on Vista.
Preferbly, uninstall McAfee totally, and install either Avast or AVG
anti-virus, both FREE, and better then McAfee, norton or Trend Micro

It's difficult to repair a Windows Mail Inbox, just using Windows' buit-in
tools. Fortunately Stephen Cochrane, a Microsoft MVP, has written a
fantastic little utility which may repair many of your issues:

WMUtil
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

Running WMUtil's "repair" option seems to be the best and easiest way to fix
most Windows Mail problems. And it's free!

Hope it helps,
