shrinking windows folder

The ssd space being 28GB, on upgrading from 10586 to 20H2, I am required to make 3.5GB more space. I have noticed that the windows folder shows a size of 20GB and just 13.3 on disk, so I ask whether I can do something to shrink it by changing the allocation size (if that is the case), or just using compression, provided it will affect that.The remaining 8GB are taken by upgrade files, mainly (6 out of 8), that is a big.esd and another 1.5GB folder.I may add an ssd expansion but not sure how to use that space, for instance which parts of it I might move and symlink.Any solution is fine.
