Why is there a weird square on my screen?

Please reply, I'm scared that I got a virus on my laptop. There is a weird static square on my screen and I cant show a picture because when I screen shot, it doesn't show up. It looks kind of like this but its a small square on my screen and its not filled with static dot things its just rows. Also I don't know if my laptop is windows 10 or windows 7
