Sleep option greyed out on start menu on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit OS

Hi I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 Laptop running on Windows 7 PRO 32-bit OS and its sleep mode or option is greyed out or looks disabled on the start menu I want to use sleep option so i can quickly resume with my work but i cannot and I have researched for solutions but unfortunately none of them work so can anyone pls help me figure this out .I have inserted an Image of my problem pls provide guidance.
