Running Windows 7 on a Windows 10 laptop

I have a Windows 7 laptop that stopped working. I removed the hard drive and would like to know if I can use that (as an external drive) to run Windows 7 on my Windows 10 laptop? There are programs and files I would still like to b able to access.And if so how do I do that?
