Windows 7 - Downloading games to a different drive

I have recently gotten a laptop that has Windows 7 and I'm trying to download my games onto the D drive, but even if I change the location where they download .. They download files into the C drive. I'm getting extremely impatient and frustrated with this dilemma and was wondering what I could do?
