Windows update sucessful... But not really

R

Robert Nelson

I'm using Windows XP with auto updates. The automatic update tool prompts
me to install KB36181. When I do so, I get the message that the update was a
success. However, after about 2 to 5 minutes, the update tool again prompts
me to install the same update (KB936181). Each time I have installed this
update, the same thing happens. Update is successful, but then I get
prompted to install it again.

Please help.

Thanks.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:

It looks like I spoke too soon, it has returned. I have tried both methods
listed in the help article, and still it comes back.
