Notification of computer attack

I received a pop up that my IP address was used on pornographic sites and sites associated with identity theift. there was an 800 number to Windows for assistance. I turned my computer off and the message has gone away, but today is the second time I received this message in the last three days. Is this truly a message from Microsoft, or have I been hacked or infected with a computer virus. If so what should I do?
