Intel HD Graphics

I have a Dell XPS L501X Laptop with Windows 7 - 64 Bit, I think my graphic adapter doesn't support my current system or something. Becuase last time when I enabled Intel HD Graphics and restarted my laptop, my screen was black. I was confused what to do and then at last I switched to safe mode and disabled the Intel HD Graphics, then my laptop started working really well. I cannot even paly some low graphics games, like chess,which is pre-installed in windows 7 , I cannot even play that game. I first thought it was some normal issue but now It is being over my head.Please tell me the solution
