How do you bypass target disk space calc when doing repeated copies like to a backup drive

I have two 4Tb drives which backup my music.currently they are filled to approx 3Tb, with 1 Tb free.The first time i copied the files everything was great.The second time win10 will not let me do the copy as it thinks there is not enough storage on the target drive.90% of the files are identical and will be replaced, and win10 will ask me mid copy if i want to replace target drive files.So why doesn't it ask at the beginning?There should be an option on copy that says 'do not do space calculation' and after that 'replace or not replace target drive files with source'.This is so utterly infuri
