reinstall windows over german version

I bought a reserve W7 machine - second hand of course with legal OS.What I ignored/forgot/didn't think was that the OS was German and I couldn't change it to UK.So I stumbled around and reinstalled W7 from an old distribution kit , assuming I could decode the product key on the case from the valid W7 I had bought with the machine.Aha - no such luck. The W7 is an OEM or somethingAny idea how I now legalise my W7 or put the German version back and convert to UK ?
