Windows 7 Internet Access

I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop that I updated to Windows 7 from XP, and I am only able to access the internet via a wired connection from my router.. When I try to connect to WiFi, it says there are no connections available. I have a network adapter installed, but it doesn't connect me to my ISP's network. I tried a USB Cisco connection, but I get the same error message. Any suggestions as to what else I could install?.
