Missing Pictures in Windows 10

I rarely use my Surface Book 2 but keeps the OS updated every time I turn it on.While searching for old pictures, it came to my attention that all my pictures are missing. The My Pictures folder itself is empty when I checked its properties. I also did the a file search and made sure my folder shows hidden files, unfortunately, to no avail.File backup, isn't turned on either.Is there any means to recover my pictures?Any assistance would be much appreciated.
