How do I fix my windows audio problems (cant hear any desktop sounds can only hear mic)

Ok ok so basically I have this 3.5 mm audio jack to USB thing connector because my motherboard is fricked and It was working fine till now I randomly booted up my pc and I just hear nothing but myself and no desktop audio and my mic isnt even giving any input either, I plugged it in my other laptop w/ windows 10 and it was working fine aswell so how do I fix this I've tried updating drivers, reinstalling device and it didnt work either
