Everything on my computer is at least 20x slower

So recently I realized that my computer is RUNNING soooooooooooo slow it took at least 30 seconds to even reach the "Enter your password" screen...and the apps opens wayyy too long...and even when my computer is put to sleep, it still goes on for at least 20 seconds before it actually goes to sleep. What is the cause? I may think because I downloaded way too much files that my E:/ drive's storage is running low...
