WinMe Setup.exe

I try to run the setup.exe from the cd ( files were copied
from the hd to this cd)
It checks drive C: and then the message comes on is
"Insert Disk 1" and then click ok to continue or cancell
to exit setup.
Does it means this cd is no good at all?
Any help would be appreciated?

What happens if you click OK?

What files do you have on the CD in the folder containing setup? I've
attached a directory listing of the contents of the folder on a Microsoft
Retail CD (Ignore folder name). You can also safely ignore the OLS
folder.

If you continue to have problems give me a ring (you know my number) but
not until Wednesday please.

Nothing - it gets stuck and same on cancell.
Continue to hit OK or Cancell - after few more hits
it goes away - or remove the Cd from the drive.

The Cd setup is like this:-

Folders

add-ons
autorun
cdsample
drivers
sbsi
tools
win9x >>>>>> 52 Files including Setup.exe as well
It matches your list.
Auto Start Files
autorun.inf
readme.txt
setup.exe
setuptip.txt

Mike
Thank you for your quick attention. It is not my
original cd which came with the computer.
I have Option folder saved on a cd.
I will try by restoring a previous rbxxx.cab backup
file.

AAH,

I can't understand why you were being asked for the next disk. I can only
assume the OEM version you have installed spanned two CDs and that the
second CD originally contained some OEM specific files, perhaps drivers.
Given that the Win9x folder is only around 150MB and a CD can store either
640 or 700 MB of files I don't see why a second CD might have been needed.

Did you run the setup.exe that is in your Win9x folder?

It looks like after 2 weeks my phone will be back working sometime
tomorrow so give me a ring on Wednesday and I'm sure we can easily sort
this out. Alternatively e-mail me (mike.maltby@gmail.com) your snail mail
address.

Try running "setup.exe" from the Win9x folder.

cd win9x
setup

Try running "setup.exe" from the Win9x folder.

cd win9x
setup

Ben

I did from Win9x - Cd and hd Folders - with no luck.

Try running setup with the "/is" and "srcpth" switches. You
may have to replace "D:\" with the drive letter used by your
CD or hard drive.

setup /is /srcpth=D:\win9x
