Windows 10 can't read DVD-R media formatted with OSTA's UDF, trouble with CD-RW too

On windows 10 I can format a DVD*R disc fine with UDF v2.01 or UDF 1.50. I can write files on it and read them back again when reinserted. But as soon as I opened it and modified the disc in another implementation on an other operating system it doesn't read it anymore even though the Phillips UDF conformity checker gives it a clean bill of health. It shows up as if its an empty disc without even mentioning it can't mount it or that something is wrong.With non-Windows formatted CD-RW discs, the mileage varies. Some work just fine but some discs open but writing on it gives an Catastrophic erro
