Screen for background and second monitor changes when in game aspect ratio is changed

I play multiple games on a changed resolution and aspect ratio, mainly 4:3 aspect ratio. The games are fine and work with the changes but my screen outside of game or when I alt-tab is changed to the same aspect ratio and resolution. This also goes for my second monitor where my other applications are shifted to the right half of my screen. Is there any way to change this or have the native resolution and aspect ratio kept for my second screen when playing games?
