DVD/CD-ROM (D drive) is no longer recognized by Windows 10/Office Home and Business 2016

DVD/CD-ROM (D drive) is no longer recognized by Windows 10/Office Home and Business 2016. I have gone to the control panel, then Device Manager and then DVD-CD-Rom drives. I clicked on search for most current driver in case a new one was needed. It came indicating that the latest driver was installed. How can I get the DVD reactivated?
