When Trying to Use External Microphone 3.5mm Jack Does Not Think Mic is Plugged In.

Hello,I've been trying to get an external microphone to record my voice. When I plug it in to my only 3.5mm headphone jack it thinks it is a pair of headphones. I know there is a function on dell computers that asks what you plugged into the jack, but I have a surface, I need this function. I have tried using a splitter to no avail.(It is definitely plugged in.)Mic: ANKO Gaming Microphone - (AKA Junk)Audio Driver: Realtek High Definition Audio(SST))Device: SurfaceOS: Windows 10 Thank you,If you need more information then I'm happy to diverge.
