System restore

How would I set up a desktop shortcut for System Restore? And while
I'm at it, how about Restart and Sleep? Thanks!

[Delboy]

Start Orb/Right click System Restore/Left Click Copy/Move cursor to
desktop/Right Click/Left click copy shortcut.

Cursor on the desktop/Right click/Cursor to New/Left click shortcut. A
window will open up, in location box type EXACTLY
"C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0" (minus quote marks)/Next/Enter a
name (Restart)/Finish. Then if you want to, Right click new
s/c/Properties/Change Icon/OK the warning box/ select an icon you like from
the selection/OK al the way to the end.

Sorry, can't help with sleep, but the procedure will be the same but with a
different location.

If you want a Shutdown Icon, the location line is
"C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0"

Go to Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools, right click on System
Restore, and choose Copy. On an empty space on your Destop choose Paste.

With the Desktop focused, ALT + F4 will bring up the Classic Shutdown
Windows dialog box.

ORB - think of it as the START button - Lower Left of screen with
the Window's Logo on it.

Ahhh, another new techie term!

Ok, now that I got past orb, where do I find System Restore to
right-click on it? Don't see it in the All Programs list...

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to
C:\Windows\System32\SystemPropertiesProtection.exe. Right-click on
SystemPropertiesProtection.exe, and choose Send To > Desktop (create
shortcut).

Dean gave the steps to launch the System Restore UI directly. In addition, here is a script which you can use to instantly create a Restore Point.

Note that the script needs to be run elevated (Run as Administrator).
