I get this message when I try to open a program that I just installed. I
found this microsoft article to fix the problem but when I ran a search for
"libraries update" nothing was found.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/254412

I'm using the 1st edition of windows 98
My cmos battery is bad (don't know if this applies or not)

I've tried uninstalling, restarting, reinstalling, restarting --- but no
success.

Please help.
Mike

Try here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403 - vcredist.exe

What program are you attempting to use in 98FE/Gold?

And replace that CMOS battery pronto...

The program I'm trying to launch on this laptop is a golf analyzer program.
This laptop had win2k on it and I got the same msvcp60.dll problem so I used
the restore cd and loaded the original operating system 1st version win98. I
get the same error using both operating systems.

You may have gotten a corrupt download.

Disable your download manager if you use one.

Download the update, saving to disk rather than trying to run it from the remote
location. Save to the Desktop or preferably to a dedicated download folder:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vc60pro/update/1/w9xnt4/en-us/vc6redistsetup_enu.exe

Temporarily disable your antivirus, and run the installer.
