After re-start and WiFi re-set it showed as connected with internet but sites had a "not connected to internet" error msg.

I used a phone as a "Hotspot" and got internet connections; then changed to normal WiFi and it connected and the Internet was available. I had trouble connecting a few times recently and sometimes either a re-start of the computer or the Modem worked but today's effort took about an hour. Bluetooth rarely works on this device and Internet download speeds fall by about 70% when the computer is moved a couple of metres from the Modem so I'm wondering whether these issues are caused by deterioration in the radio receiver.
