I´m asking this question for my partner. She has a desktop PC which uses a VGA > HDMI cable to connect to her monitor. I borrowed her monitor to use on my laptop and i used a HDMI cable on both ends. Now when trying to use her computer after few months it recognizes an external "ghost" monitor that does not exist. The display only seems to work if both HDMI and VGA ports are being used but then the resolution is not right and also there is another non existing "monitor" that seems to be connected.
