In the windows media player options under burn what does M3U mean as opposed to WPL? What is the difference between the two?

On my computer under Windows Media player options topic burn where it says data disks it says add a list of all burn files to the disc in this format and it gives me two choices and so what is the difference between M3U and WPL? I need to know what this is so I can burn discs. Thank you very much.
