chkdsk C: /r is showing only blank screen for more than 36 hours. How long will it take to complete? Can I stop chkdsk? How?

Hi, My hp pavillion laptop with windows 10 had suddenly frozen. When I restarted, it again freezes randomly after sign-in windows. System restore did not resolve this issue. Reinstall windows 10 with "keeping all personal files" also did not resolve this issue.sfc / scannow did not resolve this issue.So I tried chkdsk C: /r. It is running now for more than 36 hours!. Is it normal?Cursor is moving. Occational LED lighting indication of hard drive activity. How long will it take to complete? (it has 500 GB hard drive with ~200 GB free space)Can I stop chkdsk? How?Please advise for troubleshooti
