Double-clicking on a folder in File Explorer gives an error message.

When I double-click on a folder in File Explorer (Windows 10), I get an error message: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page". When I click the "Open" button on the top center of the ribbon, I get the same message. When I right-click on the folder, I see "Explore" on the top of the list, with "Open" beneath it. The Explore command seems to do no good, I have to click on Open to open the folder. Is there any way I can modify this so that wh
