Bad System Config Error resists all attempts to correct, installed a second instance of Windows 10

After restarting with updates, my Windows 10 PC (AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, Gigabyte B450M mobo) threw a BSOD with a Bad System Config Error. System Restore, recovering to a previous image, and attempting to reset all failed, as did attempting to remove the update. I finally resorted to installing a second copy of Windows 10, as attempting to reinstall over the top of the original OS also failed.At this point, is there a way to recover the original OS? Or to efficiently access the apps and programs from the new OS without having to reinstall them?
