Folder Options!!!

Hello, is there anybody out there!!! win98se OS

I have a dilemma. I was setting up separate Profiles for the different Users
in Passwords on this machine along with ICS in a study of NAT capabilities
of a SS4100 modem. *_ I noticed that some of the Desktop folders for another
user that were not the correct folder type as oem boot like on My Desktop,
in particular the systems folders. So I went into Folder Options and clicked
reset all folders...*_ This "little" move erased all the very important
program files that were in a folder(s) or shortcut folder(s) that I had on
My Desktop and all the other desktops. This is a disaster. Luckily, I can
find some of these programs with Find File and Folders but the path is the
same as the shortcut folder or the my New folders i.e. folders that I
created that are now "empty". Also, My Docs seem unaffected by the reset.
WTF did I do to deserve this bug? Any thoughts here would be helpful.

*_ snow and black ice.

Reload a Registry dated prior to this error via
c:\Windows> SCANREG /RESTORE
and select an appropriate date.
