Link to Windows app says it's linked to PC but device won't show in the Phone Link on windows

I've tried linking my android tablet (Galaxy Tab A 2016) with the Link to Windows app but each time it only says the link was successful on the tablet, whereas on PC the app remains on the Pair Devices page, nothing happening whether I used the QR code or pin on the device. It also doesn't appear in the linked devices list in the settings. Any ideas?
