If the same Microsoft account is used on 2 computers can I delete files on one device using the other if they are both connected to the internet?

I've had a large number of crucial files disappear from my laptop which uses a Microsoft account of another person. Could they use their device and account to access my laptop and delete files?(I don't know how to create a new account on my laptop (windows 10) and have all my files and programs stay the same.)Thanks
